Moon Lantern

Swing moon-lantern of the night
Swing thy lantern-arm
Steep me in thy lantern-light
That spills like lantern-balm.

Squeeze enchantment o'er the earth
Sweep me in your dreams
That swell your little silver soul
Sweet chalice full of beams.

Sleep and slumber little stars
Who weep and wonder why
Inside your crystal dark lagoon
You cry, moon-lantern, cry.

Soft and tender shine their eyes
In swirling seas of tar
Seeping sunlight through their lids
From out their fiery hearts.

Swing moon-lantern of the night
Swing thy lantern-arm
Anoint me by thy lantern-light
That spills like lantern-balm.

And fall and fall upon mine eyes
And pour your symmetry
Annul my grief with all your sweet
Annihilating beauty.
