Mad dog

There was once a woman
Who came running and screaming from her house:
“A mad dog is loose in my house!”
“Hurry!”, they said when they arrived
“Lock it in that room there.”
What, you miss that room already?
Its pleasant aspects, its comfy chairs?
A more serious case is this:
“Fire! Fire!”
“Shut the door before it spreads!”
Now the flames will surely consume
The room and the house
Soon the whole neighbourhood
Will throw up their arms in fear.
The meaning of this is this:
Treat little puppies well
They are adorable creatures
Extinguish fires while they are still small
