Artist and the Ogre
Artist and the Ogre
Riches
Silhouetted once so bold
I saw the sun quench back to gold
And dim her light to metal night
Bequeathing us our lives of old
And then the welling clouds did burst
And diamonds sprinkled from the sky
Until the rivers and the firths
Chinkled with their chintzy cry
'Neath pearly moon's unleavened sigh
While we - we swooned in beds of gems
And revelled in our newly wealth
But perished from our thirst.
