What is Love?

Ancestors

And so they arrived
The ancestors
Who thought they were transporting slaves
When actually Soul moved in Heaven
Musical children, sprinkled like stars
More numerous than grains of sand
At the shore
What of earth and Heaven
That they should be reflected so
An eternal double entendre
Like a broken moon
In a lake of dreams?
This, then, is sorrow
That we turned our back on love
His Son, the Grace
Sent forth to bid
Us stars
Return to Him
Galley of slaves
Mouthpiece of angels
Let every voice be heard
Every story told
Galley of souls
Abraham and Elvis
Your tears are holy anthems
Salt of my sorrow
Water, air and windows!
On our knees
Are we closest to Heaven
