Lotto
Last month we won the lotto
It can happen. It does happen. It did happen.
We went down to collect the prize
Which turned out to be
A piece of love
A great lump of the stuff
Rarer than moon-rock, so I’m told
The funny thing is
We never entered a competition
Or so much as a race
After all
What’s the point?
Our house is set back
The middle of three
There was no room in the garage, so we
Put it in the yard
Next morning we awoke
To a garden full of flowers
Our neighbours’ too
We all wondered what to do.
So we had a meeting, one evening
Then opened to the public (our little set of three)
On one condition:
’Take some home
As much as you can carry.’
It’s free.
It turns out, love
Like the loaves and fish
The more you give, the more you have
Now we are inundated with the stuff!
Still, I’ve discovered
It does make a good fuel
And an excellent building material
So I’ve made myself a rocket
Which I’ll fire into the sun
I’ll be inside of course
One day
Full of fun.
So if you see the sun shine brighter that day
O my!
You’ll know why.
