Future and past

Past met Future on a dusty road:
‘Out of my way!’, said Future, ‘I am coming through!’
‘You get out of my way!’, answered Past, ‘I have substance!’
‘You are hardly relevant’, said Future
'You don’t even exist!‘, said Past
‘You are already gone forever!‘, said Future
‘You fill men with dread’, said Past
‘You fill men with despair!’, replied Future
And so they went, on and on.
When a dove flew past
Both parties reached together for its wings
And in that moment touched (to their surprise)
And became…
…The Present.
