What is Love?

Country lane

A lonely man walked a country lane
At a corner stood an old stone house
Surrounded by a wall
He paused for a time because a clematis grew there
He took the stem in his fingers
And brought the flower to his nose
Tears overflowed from his eyes:
‘These fellows!’, he cried
‘They have such chimneys, and walls as these!’
‘Why should they have this flower too?
I wish at least this one could be mine!’
The wind blew up in the lane
And replied:
But it is yours
For who has loved it more than you?
