Contemporary Impressions

Lagos Beach

Blue. Blue. By the Med
I am a blanket of blue
Washed-up hems of bridal lace
Dreams of diamonds in her hair
When the world was wed, in times of old
To the sun who spun his gossamer gold
The fizz, the fire, the fantasy
Each breaker a brand new thought
On gritty reality
A sparkling idea
Of an ocean a billion years old
A divine sky of purple and gold
A Mediterranean wriggling with ideas
A blanket of blue.

There are many things that do not concern a seagull
There is nothing that does not concern a man
If only his wit could comprehend!
He, at least, has imagination
And in the end
What is imagination
But the search for love?
