Autobiography of a Madman

A Proposal

Your soul doth sparkle like a diamond stone
Whose facets grace a mud and moil earth
Which crimson-sweet volcano did you hone
Your goodnesses that lend my world its worth?
Compared with thee a yellow light I shine
This crystal has occlusions deep within
A lustre-lacking soul from some dark mine
Who bears specked proof his charcoal origin.
Yet God's grace - it knows no end nor its beginning
The sun's gold orbit neither dusk nor dawn
The earth, an emerald, on black canvas spinning
On Heaven's canvas Love eternal drawn.
So take this ingot ring with starlit stone
May both forever call thy finger home.
