What is Love?
What is Love?
Oneness of water
A father wanted to baptise his son, but when he approached his family, they said:
‘We do not believe in God!’
And when he went to the priest, she said
‘Be sure to select good godparents!’
Since the man and his wife knew no-one else to ask, they feared they would not be able to baptise their son.
Now there was a church nearby which was a place of peace. One day a baptism took place there. After the service the vicar turned to the congregation:
‘Now that the baptism is over, any one of you may come and dip your finger in the font and make the sign of the cross on your forehead. It’s only water, there’s nothing special about it.’
The congregation went up, one after another, and each anointed the water with their own faith. When the man and his son came to the front, he felt the drops of water on his own cheeks burn like a flame.
So he dipped his finger in the font and made the sign of the cross first on his own forehead, and then on the forehead of his son.
And the Spirit moved in the church that day
For many were crying.
And in that place of peace, a voice was heard:
By your tears, has he been baptised.
